Welcome to Saugeen Shores! The municipality takes in Port Elgin, Southampton and Saugeen Township. The name has changed, but the warm, small town atmosphere remains the same and so do the attractions and amenities that have always been here. Stroll the boardwalk in Southampton, the waterfront park in Port Elgin or the sandy beaches of Gobles Grove. Take in the spectacular sunsets from any point on one of our beautiful beaches.

Port Elgin has a bustling main street with a great variety of shops, boutiques, and restaurants. The town boasts a superb harbour and sandy beach with regular flea markets, miniature stream train, bandshell concerts, fishing charter boats and great swimming for all ages. There are plenty of activities to fill your day. In the warmer months there is a variety of quality golf courses, walking or biking on the Rail Trail or strolling our tree lined streets. In the winter you have cross-country skiing, snowmobile trails and curling. Throughout the year we offer an indoor pool, new arena, and fitness centres.

A centre for the arts, Southampton boasts both a Summer Art School and an Arts Society, a summer Music Program, Musi in the Park at Fairy Lake and the Saugeen Art Group and Shoreline Artists. Southampton is rich in marine heritage that can be explored through the Bruce County Museum & Archives and through tours of the recently restored Keepers Quarters and Lighthouse on Chantry Island. You will enjoy the community as you explore our unique shops and award winning restaurants.

Saugeen Shores is an ideal place to raise a family, a wonderful place to retire or re-locate to. We have many year-round activities for all ages, and many volunteer organizations, so there is never a lack of things to do.

Saugeen Shores has excellent medical facilities. There is a new medical clinic located next to the hospital on Grey Street in Southampton. The Grey Bruce Regional Health Care is situated on High Street serving the Town of Saugeen Shores. It has 18 beds and is a 24-hour active treatment hospital. Also, the hospital has recently added a heliport. The municipality also offers extensive health care including general practitioners, dentists, chiropractors, physiotherapists, massage therapists and a variety of natural health practitioners.
